re: #86 golgoth

Now hold on a second here.

You know as a Jew there is the old joke that 2 jews get into an argument and that there are 3 opinions.

From what I have been seeing, there is almost no dissent allowed in what really is a big Israeli cluster-F*

The Gazans aren’t starving, but they aren’t thriving either. That is intentional from an Israeli security perspective, but it is counter productive in the long term. They can’t buy weapons, but they can’t grow their economy by exporting products or receive imports from other countries. Things are going to continue to deteriorate and since Hamas’ election and takeover of Gaza, neither Egypt nor the Fatah West Bank is going to deal with them, therefore it is going to be Israel’s problem for a long time.

You’ve only been here for about six months and haven’t posted much so let me explain things to you: LGF does and have always allowed dissent, provided that dissent is factually based. The operational maxim here is: “You have the right to your own opinions, but not to your own facts.”

As to the point you raise (which is reasonable one to bring up): The reason Israel does not let Gaza have what it would need to actually thrive is that if they allowed in such things Hamas would use them to make weapons. Build a new apartment building and Hamas would strip out much of the wiring and pipes to build rockets, killing or brutalizing anyone who objected. Hamas is the cause of those restrictions.
