This is the methane feedback. More CO2 means a warmer atmosphere means less ice means more methane seeps.

“Though methane trapped under the permafrost” isn’t the full mechanism in this case. What happens is that is gets warm enough for bacteria to eat plant material buried in the now, less frozen, Siberian bog. Methane is produced as a waste product.

Methane is a very potent GHG and we could quite easily cross a methane tipping point in the bogs. As to it further accelerating the warming, absolutely. The methane bomb we have cooking up north is very concerning.
