What saddens me is that, when we were there, the place was mostly middle class kids, whose parents could largely afford to send them to a good private college that provided an excellent education.

Now? Not so much. I’m willing to bet that most of my classmates are in the same boat I am - despite a solid upper-middle class income, I can’t afford to send my own children to the college I attended.

I agree, it should be got under control. I guess what I was saying was that this is an inevitable outcome of the US approach to higher ed (combined with the US approach to wealth distribution, i.e., upwards).

It sucks that for the majority of American families, the current generation is less well-off than the previous one. That’s what you get when you vote for right-wing policy for 30 years.
