I’m old enough to remember when Republicans were trying to portray themselves as allies of Snowden and “shocked” by the level of government encroachment on our privacy.

There’s a time constant in play here. It’s a given that just about every any act by or news about the Obama administration is the “Worst thing Ever” according to Republicans.

If the RWNJ pissing and moaning about the outrage du jour actually dies down within a year or so, that amounts to a GOP endorsement of said outrage.

That’s the story with the GOP and the Snowden leaks. The GOP has no issues at all with massive surveillance etc. Their only objection is that a Democratic administration has that power.
