It’s a murder trial where the prosecution found a mountain of damning evidence, but the defense managed to get the key witness barred on a technicality, so the jury is told they have to “acquit” because the prosecution can’t put the defendant at the scene at the time of the murder.

More like a murder trial where the jury cut off the prosecution and went into deliberations. While in deliberations, prosecutors informs the court/jurors that they found the literal smoking gun, and the jury says to the Court: “No thanks. We can’t possibly allow this to continue on. It’d be unfair to the defendant.”
