Heard the comparison earlier today between this election and the ‘80. And I can certainly see the parallels: Unpopular incumbent facing off against a popular challenger, the latter bringing on a VP pick who not only faced off against him during the primaries but also gave him a hard time during such, a major national crisis that is dragging down any “accomplishments,” and now contrasting conventions between a challenger criticizing the current administration for being total fuck-ups…and the current admin begging for a do-over.

The only real difference? Carter wasn’t so desperate that he thought he could sabotage the postal service in an effort to keep Reagan from winning.
