In surveys, less than 10% of high-net-worth individuals say that they would substantially reduce their charitable giving if the federal deduction were eliminated (not just limited). More than half say they would not change their donations. Looks like it’s not just “math”… there’s a spectrum, on the “dick” end of which we find Ari Fleischer. Also, Ari’s saying that people have less to “donate and spend” suggests that that’s what the wealthy are predominantly doing with their income: putting it back into the economy, as opposed to holding onto it. Does it need to be pointed out that if this were the case, we wouldn’t be in a recession?
