Republicans aren’t arguing against the Obama that exists here in reality. Their arguments are so wholly off-base, they bear no relation to reality.

They are only arguing against the Obama caricature that only exists in the twisted minds of the Fox News viewer.

Yes, but the caricature has been very effective. Apparently millions of Americans will go to the polls in 2012 believing that Obama is an evil person who hates America. The effect of this caricature, false though it is, should not be underestimated.
