There are some pretty cool seaplanes in history, some of them still flying. On of our better ones was the late-WWII Curtiss Seahawk. There actually is a John McCain III reference in my choice, in that the Seahawk was operated by the Alaska-class BC when they were screening his grandfather’s carriers in 1945.
