for myself, i’m in favor of bombing syria for the sake of punishing the regime for being war criminals, but doubtful that it will change anything very much

Such bombing either gets Assad and/or other senior figures, in which case it is effectively an assassination, or it doesn’t get anyone of significance, in which case it is a nearly pointless exercise in killing off a few people unlucky enough to be in harm’s way.

Neither option is really appealing.
