Yeah, I know all that, but the perp hasn’t learned anything from the incident except that he got away with a racist attack on Cleaver with impunity.

He “got away with it” and yet still lost, because for all his efforts, the bill still passed, and Cleaver looks like the better man for not stooping to his level.

It’s an object lesson from people like John Lewis, actually. Let the bigots scream and yell and call you names, and do all sorts of things. Just hold your ground. When it’s all said and done, they look like the unhinged Neanderthals they are, and you come through with your dignity intact.
