I mentioned my friend Jim Shepard and his band V3 up thread. Sadly Jim took his own life back in ‘98 at 39. He had had a contract with Rick Rubin and Onion records. After one record he was dropped. And I think he took that as his one last chance to make it in the music biz…and he never really got past the disappointment. He was known for his low-fi, but very unique sound.

Allow me to drop a couple tunes on you…both from Photograph Burns - Onion Records…recorded in my basement studio back in 94-95 on a 8-track Otari. I do it in memory of him. He was a great music friend and some of the bands I was in got to open for him around Ohio State and other Columbus locations. Mentioning him made me sad and so I had to dig these up. I think you will like them.

The first video (End of the Bar) has the album cover image, the second (American Face) is of him at Staches with his lovely Framus Akkerman guitar. He could get the best crunchy sounds out of that guitar, with nary a pedal. Sometimes getting into Robert Fripp territory, using usually a small amp about ready to blow up and miked.

V.3 - End of the Bar

V3 - American Face

Thanks for allowing me the memories.
