Note that transportation emissions have increased over that time, even with all the electric vehicles. And the 2020 downturn is from the pandemic. Once 2022 data is in the data will certainly show an increase in transportation emissions again.

The only progress has been in electrical generation and industrial emissions.

I think the most technically feasible and politically unfeasible way to have an immediate reduction in transportation emissions is a decrease in human transportation. Exceptions for human-powered vehicles and trains.
