It isn’t a question. Yes, we have these people. Yes, one of them could, God forbid, decide to do something similar. It doesn’t mean it will happen, but it could.

I find it weird that they leave out the murder of the Flores family by Forde’s Minutemen. To me, it’s the most telling precursor of larger-scale political violence in the US. You can’t handwave what happened as being about one lone nut job—it was a coordinated action in which the crimes were a subcomponent of a larger plan to purchase firearms and arm more people with similar nativist views. The murders themselves were horrific, and I’m glad they were caught and tried, bt the ramifications of what was planned do not bode well.
