I saw reports that the police didn’t even show up. The Militia stayed home.

Now that might be a good sign - or it might not: the authorities may ahve kept police and militia inside so they can go hunt dissenters under cover of darkness, when they are in small groups.

Just thinking of the reports on the various student dorms, where a lot of brutality seems to ahve happened.
