The Chinese are not idiots. They know that the odds of Trump actually managing to enact any diplomatic act, much less the most difficult diplomatic act of the past 50 years, are zero. They didn’t have to get involved or interfere.

The problem for the Chinese, though, is that North and South Korea were talking.
