And the demands will be as they’ve been since the day he was captured; Hamas wants nearly 1,000 terrorists released. Of the 20 Palestinians released, 14 were convicted of attempted murder of Israelis.

As noted here, the reason Israel agreed to this was because they figured that the sentences of these 20 were due to be completed within the next year and shortening their sentences minimally to find out whether Shalit was alive was worth it.

I still think it’s bad, since it shows that Israel is still more than willing to trade terrorists in great numbers for Shalit.

Where is the pressure on Hamas to release Shalit on humanitarian grounds?
