I’ve been using STARE and PIOUS as my first two words. Yes, there’s a repeated letter in there but this way you hit all the vowels and some of the most common consonants.

I used to do TEARY and PIOUS; now it’s IRATE and SOUND, though that depends on how many matches the first word produces.
