Back in the 80s when I stopped voting Republican (I did vote for Regan first term, that was the last time), whenever it might come up for discussion, I always heard the same trope:

But… but… the Democrats will make you pay more taxes!

My response: Better the Democrats in my pocketbook than Republicans in my womb.

Always stopped the conversation dead. There was no come back to that.

I have a comeback: Abortion will never be outlawed, but democrats have and will raise taxes.
