Is there any evidence that torture has been effective at preventing such outcomes? Because if torture works, then it ought to be simple and easy to make the case for it: just hold up the documented list of successful outcomes (“successful,” here, obviously meaning “thwarted attempts”), and how they resulted directly from the use of such techniques.
