I am laowai, I learned late in life. My shufa looks like chicken scratch. Cao shu is beautiful but I can’t read most of it. Your old avatar reminded me of Zhuge Liang in the Chinese TV series made about 15 years ago, which I have on disc. Sure could use someone like him about now. Li Shizhen, maybe not as useful!

Well, you got a gweilo here. Work for a business full of Chinese; officially, it’s English, but for most things, they do the Cantonese bit. Mandarin, which they all know, they don’t use, even the Mandarin speakers. (Bosses are from ROC, so I think that explains the linguistic preferences.)

Came across the image while working for them on another project; I was really impressed with the vibrancy of color and the confidence of the artist. Propaganda it may have been (and it was), but the image was simply beautiful.
