I hear ya! I used to take my kids to the peak by going up through Placitas and then taking the forest loop around the east side of the peak. You could see where “small” fires had caught and swept a couple hundred to maybe a thousand acres. I’d hate to see it catch if it is so dry, the winds would make it deadly.

I was up that road last week!…the baskside of Sandia is fairly accessable…but it takes over a lifetime to grow another forrest after a fire…two lifetimes really
