Vista on my newer computer decided to think there was no antivirus or firewall running.
Sameer at McAfee told me that the problem was Windows; I eventually had to remove McAfee (not trivial) and re-install it.
There went the evening.
Now that computer is running a full antivirus scan from the re-install (and update) before I use it again.
Good thing I can afford to have two functional computers.
