Some things you might want to consider if you’ve never dealt with DV: how hard is it to get a TRO (temporary restraining order);
when will the TRO expire and he need to apply for a P(ermanent)RO;
does the DA’s office have a victim’s advocacy office;
does your state allow the possession and carrying of pepper spray;
does he have a safe place to stay?Unfortunately, male victims of DV often have a hard time navigating the system due to the built-in bias AND because some men (especially Marines) don’t want to see themselves as victims of DV.
Have you thought about Googling Victim’s Advocay for your area?
Yes, I might do that. Right now, we’re trying to gather together some things to cheer him up. It’s not clear when he’s going to be coming back to work.
