re: #1113 quickjustice

See my post 704. All Christians believe in some version of the Rapture, which holds that the resurrected Jesus is coming back at some future time, or may already have come back. Not all Christians believe Falwell’s premillenial version of it, with people literally vanishing into thin air. There’s a popular series of books based upon Falwell’s version of the Rapture called “Left Behind”.

At least we’re arguing theology here, not evolution! ;-) And I try to not to call religious beliefs “insane” unless they involve mass murder, or other murders, of innocent people.

Well, the return of Christ is a totally different doctrine than the “Rapture”. Heh, in my wishful thinking, I wish it would happen. ;)

And, I didn’t say it was insane, just stupid. At least a pre-trib rapture. I think when things start to go bad (really bad), that there will be many Christians who fall away from God because they have been taught their entire lives that God will “rapture” them. They are going to be very surprised when he doesn’t, and very angry, I think. I think they will lose faith over this false teaching.
