That’s true. I’ve heard he was mis-cast, to say the least.

I also can’t get around this feeling of self-consciousness in his acting, like he’s communicating to the audience, “Hi, I’m Tom Cruise, playing Tom Cruise. Aren’t I great? Thank you for watching this Tom Cruise vehicle.”

That’s my problem with him—the last Tom Cruise movie I liked was “Risky Business.”
