There was a guy in Pittsburgh back in the 1970’s, forget his name, who would walk around the downtown area wearing sandwich boards. They held a huge amount of ranting about how the Post Office was stealing all his mail. But there was never anything hostile about this guy. Just complaints about victimhood.
Pittsburgh has a small town feel about it, lots of folks would have friendly chats with him. Since his hygiene was an issue, many of the chats were, necessarily short.
Later I found out he had a wife and children in a local suburb.
Robert Lansberry. He even ran for Congress as a Libertarian!
Thats him! I just googled him. Looks like he passed in 1999. And there are a bunch of articles and photos on and about him.
Quite a trip down memory lane for me. It was a different world then. But it certainly wasn’t better than today’s, it’s gone, and it’s not going to come back.
