Isolationism as I recall it was something that the old right was big on. It was guys like Arthur Vandenberg, Thomas Dewey, Dwight Eisenhower, and Wendell Willkee who helped make the right and Republican Party more internationalist like it is now. The latter three guys as social liberals and fiscal moderates would be called RINOs today probably. Ron Paul I know has cited Bob Taft as a personal hero of his and it’s a big reason why I’ve never been a fan of his. Taft opposed the Nuremberg War Trials even after the world saw the Nazi death camps.
