You lost me. All the reports I read on the second incident said the snipers saw one pirate pointing a gun at the captain and when they got a clear shot they took them all out.
I’ll go back and double check.

Well how could they see the pirate pointing a gun at the Captain if he was inside an enclosed boat?

If the Capt. jumped in, then it makes sense the snipers could see the pirate(s) aiming at him; otherwise it makes no sense.
