I tend to go between walking away, and doing the verbal equivalent of this:

I don’t have that later option. You can’t run the table on my dad like that, he’s too skilled at argumentation to do so. He’ll shift focus to get a discussion going his way, or do the opposite and stick on a point and hammer on it to keep his opposition from charging ahead.

I’m actually he’s that good. It forces me to think when I debate a matter with him.
