You lost me at “tuning skis”. My piano got tuned. My violin got tuned. Skis get tuned?
I tune skis. I sharpen the edges and grind the bases with a stonegrinder.
Some ski tuning 101. You can bevel the edges to make them razor sharp. Imagine a ski edge, a 90° strip of metal on the edge of the ski.

Beveling involves shaving the vertical line above down a few degrees.

Racers go big, on downhill skis (the ones that go 70+ mph) they angle that vertical line, sometimes up to 8°!
