Seed spilling is clearly forbidden. And as Christine O’Donnel pointed out, it is driven by lust, which is sinful.

Although in my cse, it is not so much driven by lust as by force of habit…

They often point to story of Onan for that, but Onan was punished because his seed spilling was in defiance of God, not because the act itself was sinful…or so goes the general logic.
