Yeah, Murdoch is contemplating similar schemes. However Rupert has a better chance at making the model work because he has the market cornered on crazy right wing extremist journalism. Leftist media outlets are all over the place not so much on the right. Wingnuts would pay to read Beck and Palin.

Looks like that came out in May of 2009. The New York Times has been talking about this for over a year. This isn’t the first time they mentioned going to payed content. I remember when Salon did that and I just stopped reading it (a site I was interested at one time). Now they’re back to being free. If the NYT goes to payed content I’ll simply stop going there.
