Eh, kinda sorta. It’s not really a closely analagous situation, except in that you’ve got a bunch of people trying to get to someplace safe where there’s work, and no one in the region wants to take them. It’s screwed up in the extreme. Like a bad game of musical chairs, an analogy I’ve used for other refugee situation in the region in the past. Add a bunch of xenophobic anti-immigration rioters and stir, and the whole thing becomes even more a political football.
