Again, it was a scrub amateur softball league. I also played a passable 2B in that league. The play in question was a ball that stuck in the dirt right in front of the plate; I managed to scoop it up and throw it to first, the 1B stretched and grabbed my slightly off-line throw in time to nail the runner.
No shame! My Dad was a softball catcher. It’s hell on the old knees. Believe me as a former pitcher, I always gave my catchers their due.
