With the 3rd party a traditional Republican who does not say the quiet part out loud, and the Republican candidate a madman who attempted a coup and stole highly classified documents, it might go differently than you expect. Republicans want to think of themselves as good people while being trash, and Trump only gives them permission to be trash. He does not offer them the illusion of being good people.

I think the only way you see a conservative split vote in 2024 is if the GOP runs someone other than Trump while Trump himself is around and declares himself as a 3rd party candidate. Very unlikely since the traditional GOP leadership would view this as a losing strategy.
