Extremists often fantasize about states of being (ways of being in the world) that never existed. They depend on preserving the delusion. Could be sociopathy, but I think he actually believes this stuff so it’s really more delusional. If it were sociopathy, then privately he would know he was incorrect and think himself very clever (and quite superior) for having misled his ‘followers’ (e.g. readers).
