The articles I read mentioned that Carlos Hernandez had repeatedly confessed to the crimes for which DeLuna had been convicted, but Hernandez’ efforts were ignored.
Can’t understand why, since he was incarcerated at the time. Seems he’d have little reason to lie about such a thing, considering his own circumstances.
It is not uncommon at all for those kinds of confessions to be disregarded by the police and prosecutors. Now, they shouldn’t be believed without question either, but often they’re entirely ignored as they were here.
