You can talk all you want about hypothetical ideals, but I’m talking about my very real experience with the state-run medical system as it exists. If we had an option for private medical care, and in Canada we do not, we could have paid for and received better more prompt medical care for my mother. Millions of other Canadians face the same situation every year.

The question before the US electorate today is whether the changes proposed by Obama, and those in the bills being drawn up by congress, will improve the system or make it worse.
