The people who let it escape Wuhan fucked us all. Once it was out of the bottle, we were going to be dealing with this virus for the rest of our lives, even if Americans were all sane enough to vaccinate.

Human society is so connected these days that it would be incredibly difficult (but not necessarily impossible)to stop any new pathogen from spreading.
