He views religion negatively, and will enthusiastically run after anything - however unlikely or untrue - that makes priests, ministers, rabbis or imams the bad guy.

Generally he’s anti-theology all around. If he was misinformed by the New York Times article(s) then it would be fare to give him some time to respond. I won’t comment any further on that topic .
