That is a great story. I can imagine dogs living in a world of smell and guiding themselves around by that. The blind stray kitty in the first story just broke me up, though…his new brother will take care of him, I’m sure.

Almost all of my furry companions have been special needs (usually elderly dogs the last couple of decades) rescues. A few have been deaf but none have been blind, although one was seriously vision impaired due to the same turned in eyelash problem that Eve suffered, but I was able to get mine into a vet for surgery before it got too late.
Right now, I have the elderly JRT (aka “Not A Beagle!” because that’s what I was told she was when I was asked to foster her sight unseen) but also an amputee coonhound and also a cat who was born missing a rear paw and most of his tail. None of them let anything slow them down.
Except that the coonhound freaks out with loud noises, like thunder…she’s my early warning system for incoming stormy weather.
