Witnessed in the vehement RW objections to education reform (Common Core) and programs that require and encourage critical analysis (International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement), plus science (evolution, climate change). Any kind of education that challenges their worldview must be attacked and discredited. When they uniformly want is a return to education as it was in the 19th century frontier schools, with McGuffy readers and daily Bible lessons, and most importantly, segregated classrooms.

I am not in education but my impression is that Common Core has not been well implemented and that there are objections from people who are not RW. My impression is that it might be as flawed an endeavor as the “new math” in the 1960’s. It’s not that changes are not needed — but we seem to have problems in designing a program that achieves the objectives.
