I am starting to think this is a good assessment. He lived on reputation alone. He would have been remembered as a great leader amongst Russians, at least, now…he’s a joke. He can propaganda his way for may people there, but hardly all. Now, he will die as someone who was never worthy.

I’ve also read somewhere that his KGB assignments were the kind given to mediocre officers rather than evil geniuses. I can’t remember where I read it though.
