I think Robertson may have wanted to go out in a blaze of glory; he pretty much dared the FBI to come after him for his graphically violent threats.

To what end, I don’t know. These asshole go hot and they will be fighting the police. And if they think the cops will roll with them, they will for the most part be in for a big surprise.
