Hi there, Walter! How’s show biz? How’s the play coming along?

…and on other topics. This one is bombing, not because it stinks, it doesn’t. It’s by a Pulitzer prize winning author, it’s a regional premier, our reviews have been excellent and the cast is some of the better actors in town.

But artistically it was a bad choice. It’s an Irish play, so, it’s very European, very talky, nothing neatly rapped up, heavy life themes, just all of the heady stuff that the critics love and the audience just sits there and says “why?”

It happens once in a while. Three more weeks to go, so maybe it will pick up a bit.
