Sorry, but it isn’t the name of the political party, but where these folks are located. GOP or Democrat, it’s those located in the South that opposed desegregation. They opposed the ending of slavery. And they’re opposing equal rights for minorities to this day.

But trying to claim that just because one political party 100+ years ago ended slavery doesn’t mean we should ignore what they’ve done since. Or now. Because it would go against what Lincoln stood for.

When you break down the civil rights voting on geography, the key constant is support/opposition by region - not party affiliation.
