(I’ll admit I was going off my initial reaction on this…which does not include visiting his FB or reading anything beyond what was posted here, and the following reply was composed before I read other comments)

The loudest and most influential part of the atheist “community” is, by my perception, exactly that. Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins for example, and they’re the ones that end up on TV when they’re looking for an atheist…they just happen to spread a bit of Islamophobia along with it.

I am an atheist and most atheists aren’t like that, true. And yes, its not one “community”, that’s why I used the quotation marks. But the community they are part of doesn’t call them out on that, and their portion of the atheist community is far too large and far too public. That’s one of several reasons I no longer associate with many atheists (along with rampant dudebroism)

After reading other comments…my comments in general about atheism/anti-theism remain. However, it seems they may not apply in this case.

Do you distinguish between atheists and anti-theists?
