I don’t know where these people come from but, where I’m from, that photograph is blatant racism.
I’m from NYC.
The black community was so associated with this profession that it was a “turf war” if non-blacks attempted to “invade” choice locations. Yes, there was non-black boot blacks, but they were few and far between.
And all you have to do is watch numerous older (30’s-40’s) black and white movies, comedies in particular, to know that this profession was looked at being a subservient form of employment, populated by black Americans.
To go back to this image, in our modern day, is certainly racist.
