I think this mindset is exactly what he’s pandering to. He probably doesn’t believe it himself but he thinks it will make him look good with the base. Romney’s no better than George Wallace at this point in my eyes when he plays this despicable game.

He is worse than George Wallace. George Wallace at the end of his life became a progressive and was truly repentant of the view he had earlier held.
